Merchandising Buyer - Posted 04/25/2023

Location: Quincy, MA - Work From Office

The Buyer is responsible for the overall merchandising strategy and execution for the respective retail division. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is strategic and effective with outstanding analytical and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive financial results that maximize revenue, gross margin, and inventory turn goals through the development of planning and merchandising strategies for the division.
  • Manage OTB to meet financial targets at the category and brand level for sales, inventory, and margin.
  • Execute the buy process from concept to completion, including forecasting, financial planning of sales/inventory, allocation, replenishment and identifying and executing promotions/markdowns.
  • Initiate and generate business analysis to track selling, identify key trends and maximize opportunities in the assortment to achieve the current sales plan and future growth and profitable opportunities.
  • Manage inventory levels and assortments by store/region through analysis, testing new products, and managing a proper allocation and replenishment strategy to ensure that inventory turn goals are met and assortments by door are maximized.
  • Continuously analyze and reforecast business and implement strategies to ensure plan is accurate and able to be achieved, including adjusting product flow, seasonal strategies, and inventory management.
  • Manage SKU lifecycle from test, re-order to non-go-forward by reacting to in season sales and trends to determine go forward strategy.
  • Influence divisional category assortments and pricing strategy by analyzing product performance, store manager feedback, consumer trend/data, competitive landscape, and local market knowledge.
  • Partner and work cross functionally with Marketing/Ecom, Store Operations, Regional Managers, Distribution and Finance, to streamline and implement processes that optimize communication, product knowledge, etc.
  • Determine qualitative feedback on product, customers, store environments and competition.
  • Manage and cultivating healthy and collaborative partnerships with existing and new vendors.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Business, or related field or equivalent experience

The Merchandise Assistant supports the merchandise team from strategy implementation to execution. Responsible for merchandising systems, streamlining processes, managing vendor relationships and cross functionally managing projects. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is scrappy, excited to be part of a team and eager to have an immediate impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists Merchant team in the selection of merchandise using analytically based recommendations to forecast and plan for projected inventory needs based on historical data.
  • Manage purchase orders from new SKU set-up to initial allocation through end-of-life cycle of merchandise, including merchandise consolidation or markdown of goods.
  • Communication with warehouse with regards to any logistics issues or exceptions
  • Manage weekly inventory exports to suggest re-orders, and weekly replenishment.
  • Maintains accurate information in internal databases including the weekly updating of min/max records, maintaining markdown records, cleaning purchase order balances.
